Tyler Larronde Bio
Aloha! My name is Tyler and I am a professional big-wave surfer born & raised on Maui's North Shore. I have been surfing my whole life, 27 years to be exact! I started on the contest circuit at age 5. At 14, my dad took me out to Maui's Pe’ahi, aka "Jaws", and after my first wave I knew my passion would be big wave surfing. It paid off in 2012 when, at just 17, I got the cover of Surfer Magazine. In 2016 I was nominated in the Billabong Ride of the Year category of the World Surfing League Big Wave Awards and in 2018 I took 4th place in the Pe’ahi Challenge here on Maui.
My other passion is teaching surf lessons and sharing the stoke of catching waves. I have been teaching for 9 years and have had many happy clients. When I am not training for big waves or coaching surfing, you can usually find me free diving, fishing, cooking, or free surfing.
